Samsung is advising customers against succumbing to Microsoft’s nagging and installing Windows 10.
The consumer electronics giant's support staff have admitted drivers for its PCs still don’t work with Microsoft's newest operating system and told customers they should simply not make the upgrade.
That’s nearly a year after Microsoft released Windows 10 and with a month to go until its successor – Windows 10 Anniversary Update – lands.
Samsung’s customers have complained repeatedly during the last 12 months of being either unable to install Microsoft’s operating system on their machines or Windows 10 not working properly with components if they do succeed.
However, with the one-year anniversary fast approaching it seems neither of these tech giants have succeeded in solving these persistent problems.
A Register reader with a Samsung NP-R590 laptop got in touch when he couldn’t install Windows 10 and after he approached Samsung support.
He complained that his Broadcom wireless card does not work with windows 10.
In an email seen by The Register, our reader was told frankly by Samsung:
“Honestly speaking, we don't suggest installation of Windows 10 to any Samsung laptop or PC and we are still coordinating with Microsoft regarding to this matter," Samsung's UK support said.
“The Drivers that we have on our website are not yet compatible to the latest version of Windows. What we usually recommend is to keep the current Windows version and we'll update you once the Windows 10 have no more issues on any Samsung laptops and computers or even monitors.”
Samsung's email limply advised the reader to contact Microsoft directly for more information, at its Thames Valley Park campus in Berkshire, UK.
The Register contacted Microsoft and Samsung to find out when updated drivers for Samsung PCs and Windows 10 would be released.
But Samsung was unable to respond, despite repeated attempts.
Microsoft only managed a boilerplate statement attributed to a spokesperson. “Microsoft and Samsung are committed to Windows 10, and are working closely together to provide the best possible Windows 10 upgrade experience,“ it said.
Microsoft “encouraged” Samsung users to visit that company's own website to “ensure upgrade is supported by their PC". ®

Y la gente pierde la actualización gratuita porque ellos sean unos ineptos y no sean capaces de desarrollar drivers para windows 10... alucinante.
¿Van a regalar luego ellos las licencias de w10? Dicen q te actualizan ellos, pero no lo tengo muy claro.

Tienes razón en la parte concerniente a la irresponsabilidad sobre la pérdida de licencias pero .... ojo, no me creo que el problema en este caso sea únicamente Samsung.

En primera instancia, hay que comprender que Microsoft no es una empresa puntera en innovación tecnológica exactamente ... en parte porque no creo ni que le interese ( la clásica paradoja de la caña de pescar en el mercado privativo: ofrecer mejoras MUY lentamente, sobre todo si tienes más bajo la manga ) pero principalmente porque la parte maś brillante de esta empresa no está en los equipos informáticos, sino muy lejos de estos... en oficinas... y probablemente en algún yate y edificación privada: su fuerte, ha sido en la estrategia económica, entender el momento que se vivía y la necesidad de ocupar todas las posiciones dominantes lo más rápido posible, tener a los más destacados en cartera... y así sigue siendo.

No les importa que su utilitario ande algo justo, lo que prima es que las superestrellas del software tienen que usarlo.

Teniendo en cuenta que han tenido un año para desarrollar drivers, me huelo que aquí está pasando algo que no quieren.... o no pueden hacer público; conspiraciones aparte, hay que tener en cuenta que aquí hay dos implicados Samsung y Microsoft ... ¿ se debe culpar sólo a una parte... o a las dos ( y aquí comenzarían los problemas ) ?

Yo tengo un portatil de Samsung y no lo he podido actualizar a Wiundos 10 y por dos veces lo he tenido que desinstalar y una tercera Microsof me dijo que hera inconpatible.

Ha yo no perdi la licencia porque tenia el Samsung Recovery (hecho en 5 DVD).
